Common Questions
No. That's one of the most common myths in the business. Many conventional and FHA loans need only a low minimum down payment, and VA and USDA loans offer no-down-payment options for eligible buyers.
It depends on the loan type. Conventional loans generally start around 620, FHA can go lower, and VA and USDA don't set a hard minimum. A higher score gets a better rate, but a lower score doesn't automatically mean no.
A mortgage inquiry is a small, temporary dip, usually a few points. Credit bureaus treat multiple mortgage inquiries within a short window as a single inquiry, so shopping lenders won't stack up against you.
Yes. MSHDA offers down payment assistance that can be layered with FHA, conventional and other loan types for buyers who meet the income and purchase-price limits.
